CHILDREN’S BUSHCRAFT NATURE DAY WITH FOREST SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

(4 – 12 year olds) from 10:30 – 5pm

We have a limited number of spaces for a special day of activities lead by Forest School Leaders in the grounds and surrounding land of the farmhouse. Your child/children will spend the day immersed in nature. Playing, exploring, being hands on and having fun! The children can choose what activities they want to do using natural resources, their imagination and interests. Some of the activities on offer may be making bow and arrows, using tools to make key rings, pencil holders and more, natural weaving looms, winter wreaths, woodland walks, den building, clay creatures, mud play, toasting marshmallows on a fire and more. The session is for 4 to 12 year olds from 10.30-5pm. It is run by a Forest School Practitioner who is a qualified teacher with First Aid training. 

Forest School is a concept that can be linked back to the early work of some of the most influential educational theorists and has been well embedded in Scandinavian education. It involves children learning in the outdoors for prolonged periods of time whatever the weather! There is no such thing as bad weather for Forest School, just bad clothing choices! Forest School gives children hands on learning opportunities in an environment that stimulates all of their senses. It encourages their curiosity, problem solving, independence and gives them the chance to take risks in a safe way. ​

It also allows you to fully immerse yourself in the day of discovery, knowing your little ones are nearby having fun for the course of the day. 

Please pack a packed lunch and drinks for them unless you wish to book a family table at the Farmers Roast (children’s meals are priced at £10 for a roast and pudding). Why not join your kiddos for the marshmallows around the firepit (everyone’s favourite bit) and bring them back into the Barn with you to enjoy a cheese toastie at the end of the day (5pm) when you tuck into yours.

Family ticket prices are as follows:

Family of 3:  2 adult day tickets (including a whole day of inspirational talks, a welcome drink and a ultimate cheese toastie), one child place on the Bushcraft nature day from 10:30am – 5pm and a kids’ ultimate cheese toastie) £95

Family of 4:  2 adult day tickets (including a whole day of inspirational talks, a welcome drink and a ultimate cheese toastie), two children’s place on the Bushcraft nature day from 10:30am – 5pm and a kids’ ultimate cheese toastie) £120

Family of 5:  2 adult day tickets (including a whole day of inspirational talks, a welcome drink and a ultimate cheese toastie), three children’s place on the Bushcraft nature day from 10:30am – 5pm and a kids’ ultimate cheese toastie) £150

If you have children younger than 4 then you can bring them along to the Barn on the day. We just ask you respect the speakers so that they can be heard and email us ahead to let us know that they are coming so we can plan for numbers. If you have children between the ages of 4 and 12 years old we would recommend that book onto the Bushcraft Nature Day as they will have a lot more fun this way.
